The Future Looks Sooo Bright!

I'm not sure how many people read this blog, so I won't disclose all of the information regarding my future here. I am, however, elated! My future is looking so bright. At the age of 7, I started my own business selling soap, lotion, etc. I found my love for entrepreneurship at this age. It is only right that I make my future being my own boss. I will not exactly say what my business will be, but it is a mix of both of my passions. A few minutes ago, literally, I made a business connection! I reconnected with a friend who can and is willing to help me in major ways regarding my business. As a recent college graduate, I believe helping me with my business will be great experience for him. It certainly won't hurt me! Anyway, I'll keep you all updated on my future.

Until next time...

Now seeking a womanist career...

So I'm sitting here on a Friday night reevaluating my life and thinking about the future. This time next year, I will be graduating from college. Life is confronting me quickly. I need a job, a career! As you know, I will be applying to both the Peace Corps and Teach for America, but those are not careers. I want start something that's mine and change the world. I want equality, for everyone, especially Black women! I'm an opinionated, educated Black woman looking for a career outside of corporate America. What am I do to?

Goals for 2012

I thought of this post while reading Darker Than Brown's post about her own hair goals. When I cut my hair in May/June 2011, I knew that I would take this opportunity to relearn my hair. I made goals for myself too. They were:

  • Healthier hair
  • A definite regimen
  • APL hair by February 28, 2012
  • Better knowledge of products for my hair
  • Ability to listen to my hair
  • Knowledge and implementation of many, many different hairstyles
I accomplished many of my goals with my loose hair. I definitely moved my hair to a higher level of health. I even formed a stable regimen. Listening to my hair is still somewhat a challenge, but I am getting much better at it. I even know a few styles! Starting locs has made my goal of APL hair pretty impossible. I have so much shrinkage that it's ridiculous. I'm alright with it though.

Goals for 2012 are certainly in order. Here they are:
  • More baby loc friendly styles
  • Regular trips to the loctitian
  • A definite loc regimen
I'm sure I'll come up with more soon. Until next time...
